Project summery Customer: Energy Service Provider Software: Marlin x38 Hardware: DEWE PNA 638 Challenges: offline storing, offline report generation, including signals over CAN bus, implementing the CAN option into the Marlin measurement software
Challenges and requirements The customer is measuring electrical signals, especially power values at several wind turbines. Therefore he wants to use the smallest PNA instrument Dewetron can offer at the time – the DEWE 638-PNA. This device was designed for needs according EN50160 power quality standard. So the customer forced us to implement more options and further functions into the smallest device we have and we were not allowed to size it up. |
Until this project, marlin was only designed for
EN50160 power quality reporting. To fulfil all
customer’s needs, it has to be possible to generate
wind reports according IEC61400 directly using the
web interface of the device. Therefore it was
necessary to extend the functionality of the
measurement software and to expand the
hardware of DEWE PNA 638, so that we can include
the measured values of temperature, air pressure,
wind speed and wind direction. The CAN interface
provides the possibility to include these
environmental data from external meters like
anemometers. |
Dewe´s smallest PNA device The PNA 638 device has a small case and is very handy to use. It provides 2x USB, 1x Ethernet, 1x RS- 232 and 2x digital inputs. The device can be operated at -20 °C up to + 50 °C. It provides a storage capacity of 2GB.There are 4x voltage and 4x current input channels available. The external CAN interface is connected to the 638 using the USB interface. The environmental data is used to count power bins according to the wind speed. To generate the wind report it is possible to remove several wind sectors from the calculation. |
The report includes dataset A/B and several charts likr the CP-curve. Beware that no external analysis software is need. The device is connected to the customer’s network. Using the
Marlin web interface
the customer can look at
the running measurement and is able to control
the instrument from anywhere.
